| Cadillac Cadillac is the oldest automobile manufacturer to originate in Detroit, Michigan. The company is named after the French explorer who founded the city. General Motors purchased Cadillac in 1909 and that same year Cadillac produced almost 6,000 vehicles. Over six million vehicles had been built by the end of the 1970s; Cadillac celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2002. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 2009 Cadillac CTS-V (Spy pics & info) ![]() ![]() ![]() Real deal: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V spied Although a mule for Cadillac's 2009 CTS-V was photographed a couple weeks ago, it turns out that it didn't really reveal the true face of Caddy's M3/M5 fighter. These latest shots of a CTS-V prototype were taken in Germany, at a gas station near the famous Nürburgring, and this one's the full-on real deal. This test car has a new grille design, and a massive lower air-intake, both sporting a sporty mesh finish in the familiar V-spec tradition. The shape of the lower intake gets wider toward the bottom, where it joins a bold lip that juts out around the bottom of the front fascia. The fog lights and brake cooling ducts flank the lower intake, giving this CTS-V a beefiness missing from those prior prototypes (which were still fronting the same standard grille and front bumper design first seen last April). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V (Spy pics & info) 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will have 600HP Corvette Blue Devil engine! The new issue of Motor Trend arrived in the mail and our eyes were instantly attracted to this story that just went live on motortrend.com. The MT crew has learned that the supercharged V8 slated for use in the next-gen Cadillac CTS-V will be none other than a "detuned" version of the 7.0L LS7 powerplant debuting in the Corvette Blue Devil, or rather, Corvette Z07. The MT editors expect the version used in the CTS-V to produce about 600 horsepower, or around 100 horses short of what the Z07 will produce. Pick any possible competitor for the next CTS-V and it's obvious that all will come up short to Caddy's new mega muscle sedan. The BMW M3 and Audi RS4 both produce only 420 horsepower, while the horsepower happy AMG team stuffed only 503 in the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. Even the BMW M5, which is larger than the CTS, will come up short with an upcoming horsepower bump into the low-500 horsepower range. In short, the CTS-V will offer the same amount of horsepower as the 2008 Dodge Viper, which is pure insanity. GM's got stones, folks, and Cadillac is clearly the prime beneficiary of its newfound fortitude. Much thanks to Motor Trend editor-in-chief Angus Mackenzie for allowing Autoblog to republish the rendering above. The July issue (you can subscribe here) is thicker than a Thesaurus and our fave in a string of recent good issues from the MT team. [Source: Motor Trend via Autoblog.com] |

Most of that rumor was fueled by the hood itself, as it was sporting a rather large bulge that seemed to indicate the presence of a supercharger. One popular theory says that bulge is hiding a supercharged version of the 430-horsepower LS3 used in the - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. Another source claims the CTS-V will get an even more potent supercharged power plant with as much as 600 hp. That engine would be a detuned version of the nearly 700-hp blown LS7 slated for the $100,000-plus - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER, according to the same source. According to our information, however, none of those rumors are true as the CTS-V won't be supercharged at all. Instead it will borrow the normally aspirated 7.0-liter LS7 from the current Corvette Z06. With 505 hp and 470 pound-feet of torque, the LS7 should have more than enough grunt to get the roughly 3,800-pound CTS-V up to speed. Consider that Mercedes-Benz uses an engine with nearly identical specs in its 4,000-pound - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER, which is the quickest sedan we've ever tested. Don't expect 700 horses from the Corvette Z07 either. It's more likely to show up with around 625 hp — enough to top the latest Viper without tearing the tires off the rims. Expect to see the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V in dealers next year with a price tag significantly below its European counterparts. What this means to you: Regardless of which rumor is true, the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V is guaranteed to have enough power to play with the big boys in the luxury super-sedan class. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V (Spy pics & info) ![]() ![]() ![]() Spied again: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V Spy photographers have snapped another round of photos showing the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V undergoing testing with minimal disguise. The car is expected to use the new "LSA" Corvette motor, developing at least 500 horsepower. The CTS-V will feature a supercharger integrated into the intake manifold. This is the same setup the upcoming Corvette SS / Blue Devil will have with its LS9 motor. However, while the Corvette SS motor will be hand built at the Performance Build Center in Wixom, MI, the Cadillac's LSA motor will be built in a conventional motor plant. Automatic and manual transmissions will be available, and an optional paddle shift feature is also anticipated. Production on the new CTS V-Series will start in September of 2008, and will be limited to about 7000 units annually. Internally, GM is referring to the car as "GMX322 V S/C." GM's Bob Lutz was recently quoted saying the 2009 CTS-V "will be at a power level only described as unexpectedly high." Then referencing the current BMW M5, Lutz said the CTS-V “will suck the doors off” the competition if the next M5 isn't significantly better. After driving a prototype, Lutz said "flat-out incredible. I’ve never driven anything like that.” In the past, the current CTS-V has suffered from rear-end problems. Specifically, wheel hop. The 2009 CTS-V will feature a completely re-done rear end with a much better rear axle. Sources say this has eliminated the wheel hop issue altogether. The '09 will continue to utilize a massive set of brembo brakes up front and in back. While the wheels on this prototype are not production spec, the wider tires and larger exhaust pipes certainly are. [Source: LLN] |
